Molecular Architecture of Silane Coupling Agents: Bridging Organic and Inorganic Phases

Silane coupling agents are hybrid organosilicon compounds with the general formula:

Y─R─Si(OR')₃

Y: Organofunctional group (e.g., amino, epoxy, vinyl)

R: Alkyl chain spacer (commonly ─CH₂CH₂─ or ─CH₂─)

OR': Hydrolyzable alkoxy groups (typically methoxy or ethoxy)
